Summer 2
Tennis
This half term, we have focussed on hand eye coordination skills in tennis. We practised forehand and back hand and learned the rules of the games and how it is scored. Then, we practised. Each session, half the class played a game and the other half had target practise.
Summer 2
Athletics
This half term, we have focussed on jumping, running, throwing. We have been looking at the difference in accuracy between underarm and overarm. We realised that under arm is more accurate for shorter distances.
Summer 1 - Athletics
This half term we have been practising our throwing and catching skills and also our accuracy skills. We have also been learning how to hold the sports equipment (batons) correctly and then passing it on during races to each member of our team. We have also been working really hard in our teams being supportive and encouraging.
Spring 1
Fitness and Health
This half term, we have used the Tabata Program. This is a HIT (High Intensity Training) session with obstacles. The format of the session is as follows:
- Work out hard for 20 seconds
- Rest for 10 seconds
- Complete 8 rounds
We are focussing on our coordination, balance, stamina and speed during each session.
Autumn 2
Rest, Relax, Recharge
This half term, we have focused on our relationships with the special people in our lives. We began our lessons with a meditation session. This was a time for us to relax and concentrate on our breathing and thoughts. Then, we had the opportunity to share our thoughts and feelings. We showed respect by listening to our friends carefully.
