Milnrow Parish Church Of England Primary School

Reading Ambassadors

We have our very own reading council that is lead by our Reading Ambassadors, from Years 3-6. Their main role throughout the year is to promote the love of reading in school. Each week, they meet with Mrs March to discuss reading both inside their classrooms and around school. They are at the forefront of developing reading for pleasure across each and every year group. Their own love of reading (whether that is narratives, comics, magazines or graphic novels) continues to shape the way we appreciate reading at Milnrow.

Their role includes:

  • Reading with and to younger pupils
  • Being in charge of the reading trolleys for the playground
  • Auditing the reading materials in school
  • Running competitions that raise the profile of reading further
  • Organising and maintaining the school library and reading areas
  • Labelling new or donated books so that they can be used on Accelerated Reading
  • Choosing new texts to be purchased for school
  • Creating and updating our Amazon Wishlist
  • Encouraging more reluctant readers through recommendations

The list could go on! Their role in school is something that we truly treasure and we could not continue to develop our love of reading without them

Could YOU be our next Reading Ambassador?!
